Map Reviews

Welcome to the official dumping ground for my map reviews. This is where I dissect, critique, and occasionally rant about custom maps from across the digital wasteland. Whether it’s a classic CS 1.6 bombsite drenched in nostalgia, a Half-Life Deathmatch arena designed by someone with a vendetta against gravity, or frankly any map that catches my eye, nothing is off-limits here.

I don’t bother with bloated scoring systems or “industry-standard metrics.” I hand out Gold Stars. Five of them, if you’re lucky. No algorithms, no committee votes—just my honest take on how well a map delivers in visuals, gameplay flow, creativity, and, most importantly, whether it’s actually fun to play. Because if we’re not here to have fun, we might as well be filling spreadsheets.

Most of these reviews are written by yours truly—Slade Krowley. Occasionally, a guest opinion might sneak in, but don’t mistake it for democracy. This page is my personal lens on these digital battlegrounds, from their brightest moments to their ugliest flaws. I’ll praise when it’s deserved and call out nonsense when it’s necessary.

So, if you’re after straight-shooting, no-nonsense reviews with just the right amount of attitude, congratulations. You’ve found the right corner of the internet.
